Message of the Day: Jesus Is Our Intercessor.

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate in heaven with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” (1 John 2:1, NASB)

Having a relationship with God does not mean that we are sinless. We always have that tendency to commit sin. It is not by virtue of our sinlessness that we have a relationship with God, but because of Christ’s death for our sin. If at times we know that we are guilty of any sinful act, we must confess it in genuine humility so that our fellowship with God may remain unbroken.

John warns us not to think that sinning is a normal behavior, as if it does not matter if we sin. On the contrary he wants us not to sin. However, it is inevitable that we will sin sometimes, and he wants us to be assured that when it happens, forgiveness and cleansing is available because of the atoning blood of Christ.

By virtue of Christ’s death, He can ask the Father to forgive us of our sins. He is our intercessor.
